The Augustan Society Library

A major research collection is coming back to life.

The Augustan Society Research Library began as several bookcases in our founder's high school bedroom. After decades of focused accumulation by Society members in all our primary interest areas, it has expanded to a one-of-a-kind collection of rare, antiquarian, and essential resources.

An estimated 30,000 books, plus manuscripts, historical materials, and archives, are coming to California this summer. Focused on genealogy, heraldry, chivalry, history, and royal & noble studies, the Library is transitioning from long-term storage into a working research resource for members, scholars, and the public.

For years, much of the collection remained boxed and inaccessible. Now, it will be digitally cataloged, shelved, and made available once again. The Augustan Society Research Library will be re-established as a functional center for historical study, genealogical research, heraldry, and the study of chivalric and noble traditions.

It will support:

  • Research and publication

  • Educational programming and lectures

  • Lineage and heraldic work

  • Collaboration with scholars and institutions
