Submissions to the Augustan OmnibusThe Augustan Omnibus is the semiannual scholarly publication of the Augustan Society, dedicated to the study of heraldry, genealogy, chivalry, nobility, royalty, and related historical fields. Since its earliest iterations in the mid-twentieth century, the Omnibus has served as a forum for original research, critical analysis, and thoughtful commentary grounded in primary and secondary sources. The editorial committee invites submissions from Society members and other qualified contributors whose work reflects sound scholarship, clarity of expression, and engagement with the Society’s areas of interest.
Scope of ContributionsThe Omnibus publishes a range of scholarly and scholarly-adjacent material, including: Research Articles and EssaysSubstantial, well-documented studies addressing topics in heraldry, genealogy, lineage societies, chivalric institutions, nobility, royal history, ancient and medieval history, archaeology, folklore, and related disciplines. Research Notes and White PapersFocused studies, preliminary findings, methodological discussions, or longer analytical treatments of specialized subjects. ReviewsCritical reviews of books, films, digital resources, exhibitions, and other media of relevance to the Society’s mission. Reviews should assess scholarly merit and contribution rather than serve a promotional function. Biographical and Memorial StudiesObituaries and biographical tributes of historical or Society figures, grounded in verifiable sources and written with scholarly care. Artwork and Visual MaterialOriginal heraldic artwork, armorial designs, and historically informed illustrations suitable for print publication. Editorial Review ProcessAll submissions are reviewed by the Omnibus editorial committee. Scholarly articles are subject to peer review. Editorial decisions are based on academic merit, relevance, clarity, and available space. Authors may be asked to revise submissions for style, length, documentation, or clarity. Substantive changes are made in consultation with the author.
