Author Paula Sutter Fichtner starts with a discussion of the pros and cons of Turkey’s application to join NATO. Emphasis is placed on the perspective of former Ottomon Empire states as well as Austria. And leads to a brief history of Habsburg-Ottomon relations as well as how and why they became more positive over the centuries. This is followed by a balanced discussion of Orientalism.
