Fire at the College of Arms

02/05/2009

The offices of the College of Arms in London suffered a fire that burned two floors of the six-storey building on Thursday 5 February. There were no injuries and there are no reports that any of the records held there were damaged.

No stranger to conflagration, the College's previous home, Derby Place, was lost in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The current building was erected on the site shortly thereafter.

We will continue to monitor reports and amend this news item as more information comes available.
