Augustan Dues Increase for 2009/10

04/02/2009

In considering the first annual budget for the Society since our move from California to Florida, the Board of Directors has decided that a dues increase is necessary to keep up with the increases in costs over the past few years.

While the Society has been limiting dues increases to $1 for the past several years, it was decided that this rate of increase was insufficient to the routine expenses we now face. Consequently dues will rise $6 to $55 for 2009/10.

This budgetary need is in addition to the Annual Fund Raiser, which is presently dedicated to retiring outstanding obligations.

Following long practice, there is a small fund available to provide sponsorship for those members--especially those from academia and the clergy--whose present financial situation might otherwise oblige them to drop out. Members who find themselves in such a situation, but who wish to continue active membership are encouraged to contact Headquarters. Full confidentiality is of course maintained.

Part of the reason for this increase is that our membership ranks have shrunk in recent years, leaving fewer of us to carry the burden of fixed costs. Future increases may best be minimized or eliminated by recruiting new members. Contact Headquarters if you need brochures, petitions, sample Omnibus copies, or advice.
