Emperor Karl von Habsburg credited with Miracle

02/01/2008

The late Karl von Habsburg, last ruling emperor of his line, and father of Augustan Fellow Otto von Habsburg, has been credited with interceding in the miraculous recovery of a Baptist woman from metatastic breast cancer.

The woman, a resident of Kissimmee, Florida (about six miles south of Augustan Headquarters) celebrated a mass at Orlando's St. James Cathedral Chapel last Tuesday. She credits praying to Karl of Austria after receiving a prayer card from a Baton Rouge woman.

Numerous physicians testified that they knew of no medical reason for her remission, leading credence to the argument of it being a miracle. Documentation has been prepared and presented to Andrea Ambrosi, an Italian lawyer who is Karl's chief advocate, and whose expenses are being paid by the Habsburg family.

Karl was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2004, and some believe this miracle may be sufficient to propel him to canonization.
