Petitioning for Membership
A few words for those contemplating making petition for membership in the Society:
Unlike most organizations where membership is a passive experience, members of the Augustan Society are asked and expected to actively support the programs of the Society. Often this activity comes in the form of writing for our publications – from original research to book reviews, serving on committees, editing, translating, or fund raising.
In return, membership is limited so that we can maintain a high standard of service. Books are available to members for loan from our extensive library, and members agree to help one another in their research and educational activities.
If all this sounds a bit daunting, then we suggest you start by subscribing to The Augustan Omnibus and learn more about the Society before making the commitment to membership.
On the other hand, if all this sounds like something you'd like to be involved with, a petition form is available for printing here. Once it and your initial payment are received, we will place your application before the Board or Directors for approval.
